About Any Mountain Project

Every ovarian cancer journey is a climb, and we support women ascending their personal Everest

Any Mountain is an innovative non-profit dedicated to ending ovarian cancer through creativity and technology. The project is the brainchild of Dr. Joanie Mayer Hope, a leading gynecologic oncologist and talented rock musician based in Anchorage, Alaska. It uses dance, music, and spoken word to raise awareness and directly fund groundbreaking research into early detection and prevention.

This extraordinary project started as a hip hop song, which was professionally recorded in New York City in 2017. It turned into a remarkable music video, which caught the attention of some of the nation’s leading ovarian cancer researchers, who joined to form the Any Mountain Expedition Team. The song also sparked the development of an app designed to help people check their family cancer history. The app helps people at risk connect to local health resources for genetic testing. Today, Any Mountain proudly operates in partnership with the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA).

Ovarian cancer is the fifth-deadliest cancer for women in America. An estimated 21,750 cases will be diagnosed this year, and 13,940 will be fatal. However, researchers say 20 percent of cases could be completely prevented if people understood their family cancer histories well enough to take appropriate measures early. The lack of prevention strategies, early detection methods, curative treatment options, public education, and research funding means innovative action is paramount.

Know your history. Save your future. Join the climb.
